Ask anyone in the costume world about the items most likely to reduce them to tears and the answer is always the same, shoes and boots.
In a valiant attempt to eliminate a little misery from the world we have produced these very versatile men's tall boots.
These are not formal hard leather riding boots. They are a good soft leather which slouches down satisfactorily to fulfil the earthy countryman roles.
Like all our footwear these are made in Portugal on wide lasts so work well with British and American feet. The calf width is also generous as they are intended for a robust look. Pirates and peasants rather than toffs.
New stock is all Black leather outer lined with tan leather.
We have a few Dark Brown leather outer lined with tan leather boots left.
Composite sole and heel with non slip soles.
16" tall at back from top of boot to heel welt.
Available in sizes as follows

We are delighted to be able to offer these men's C18th shoes in stone coloured leather which can dye.
They are the classic shape of the era with tongue and buckle which can be worn in any production from around 1700 to 1820. The buckles can be changed but not easily, as we couldn't devise a simple way of allowing for this. There is however elastic under the buckle, which allows for ease over the instep.
These are leather shoes with leather covered heels. The footbed or insole is not glued down, so it can be easily removed for cleaning.
Non slip soles.
Made in Europe.

Spats were worn over shoes from late C19th to the early 1920’s.
The main purpose was to protect the upper part of the shoes from spattering with mud. The name therefore derives from ‘spatterdash’ .
These are made in the best quality heavyweight pure wool melton so do not curl irritatingly at the toe.
Please note that the grey are hand dyed which gives them a convincingly vintage look however the edges visibly whiter.
They are exact replicas of originals and have leather straps with nickel buckles.
At present we have only one size which fits a large shoe from British size 9-11.
